In case you missed it, here’s Lauren Faust’s first Super Best Friends Forever. It aired after the second episode of the new Green Lantern CGI cartoon.
Those are the facts. What follows are my opinion.
What the fuck, Cartoon Network? THAT WAS AMAZING!! WHY IS THAT ALL WE GET?! You have three very appealing characters and a built-in Faust fanbase thanks to MLP. Why… WHY is the Green Lantern cartoon around instead of this? The Green Lantern cartoon feels like you are grasping at the “success” of the Green Lantern movie and the Star Wars Clone Wars show (as they share a style).
I mean, I am LOVING what you’re doing with Young Justice and I have a hole left in my heart after Batman: Brave and the Bold ended before it got old, AND I am a pretty big Lantern fanboy, so I gave GL a chance… only to be disappointed by it. It felt like the writers didn’t know exactly what was going on… but were trying REALLY hard. Red Lanterns? Cool. Red Lanterns with the personalities of kooky Saturday Morning cartoon lackies? Not so cool. Meanwhile, there is SO MUCH interest in what Faust could do with Super Best Friends Forever.
Then again, I am just some guy writing a blog and you have your own television station so my opinions don’t really matter. Now that I know that SBFF popped on Youtube real quick I can save myself from DVR’ing Green Lantern anymore.
